Rabbis Are People Too

In today's version of "rabbis are people too" and "this is why I'm a pescatarian" - guess who made an exception to their own no meat rule to have chopped liver and then drank half of an egg cream?

In all seriousness, I hate when I screw up kashrut. It happens about once a year - sometimes by my own hand and sometimes by those who believe in adding pork to everything. Each time I feel intensely ashamed and disappointed in myself. It is such a reminder of the ways in which Jewish religious practice and expression provide structure and meaning to my life.
